Adding a credit card surcharge in Connecticut.
Surcharges prohibited by state lawSection 42-133ff(b) says no person may impose a surcharge on any transaction, defined as any added fee for using a particular method of payment. A merchant may offer a discount for cash, check or debit only if it clearly posts notice on premises, online before checkout, or verbally by phone. Violations are unfair trade practices, with added civil penalties of up to $500 per violation.
